Research interests
I am interested in natural language understanding and generation, and the
kinds of knowledge representation and reasoning required for it.
A lot of my work has been done in combining general and
special methods (specialists) for reasoning, and developing some of these
specialists (especially one for temporal reasoning), mostly within EPILOG (an implementation of Episodic Logic).
Other interests
- Husband Jonathan Schaeffer, and daughter Rebecca (both unbelievably cute and smart).
- Pets, including:
- Centuriann (the world's greatest horse) - bay Arabian gelding
- Jasper - black cocker spaniel with ridiculously long eyelashes
- Mistake - dark grey and white long haired cat - our "party animal"
- Miscellaneous - grey and white Persian/Siamese cat with an attitude
- Marshmallow - brown tabby snuggle cat
- Magic - troublemaker calico cat
- Crafts of all sorts, especially quilting and machine embroidery.
